Pafford founder charged with sex abuse of a child.

The founder and part-owner of a company recently hired to provide ambulance service to Brandon was arrested last week. Hempstead County deputies charged James Pafford of Pafford Amublance Service last week on child sex abuse.   The Hope Star reported:

Retired emergency medical services businessman James Carl Pafford, of Hope, was arrested here Monday in connection with an investigation into sexual conduct with a male juvenile.

Hempstead County Sheriff James Singleton said Monday afternoon that Pafford was taken into custody at a residence as investigators served a search warrant at a West 16th Street home.

“The investigation is in its early stages and is expected to continue over the next several weeks,” Singleton said.

He said the probe began as the result of a Feb. 27 call to the Crimes Against Children Division of the Arkansas State Police about the possible sexual abuse of a 12-year old male.

Singleton said the call made reference to a possible sexual abuse case in Hempstead County, but he said Monday he could not confirm whether the juvenile resided in Hope or Hempstead County.

“Investigators of the Hempstead County Sheriff's Office and agents of the Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division launched an investigation into the allegations,” Singleton said. “As an early result of that investigation, investigators from the Hemsptead County Sheriff's Office and agents from the Arkansas State Police arrested 71-year old James Carl Pafford, of Hope, Arkansas, for rape of a person who is less than 14 years old; sexual assault in the second degree on a person who is less than 14-years of age; and, sexually grooming a child.”

Singleton said Pafford was taken into custody shortly before 5 p.m. Monday as the result of the service of a search warrant at a residence on West 16th Street. Pafford resides at 3317 W. 16th St.

The company website is "under construction" although the air ambulance website states:

PAFFORD AMBULANCE SERVICE was formed in Arkansas in 1967 by James and Carol Pafford. It is one of the largest and oldest family-owned ambulance operations in America. The second generation of Paffords carries on the tradition. Jamie, Greg, and John work together to maintain the Pafford reputation. Pafford EMS and our sister companies provide service in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Oklahoma.

In Summer 2006, Pafford AIR ONE began providing air ambulance service across North Louisiana and South Arkansas.

Pafford EMS, is also involved in educating the community by offering CPR and First Aid courses and encouraging the use of the Enhanced-911 System in reporting an emergency situation.
The proposal submitted to the City of Brandon (in response to Brandon's rfp) stated:

"The Pafford family of companies is owned and operated wholly by the Pafford family. James Pafford, Carol Pafford, Jamie Pafford-Gresham, Ben Gresham, Greg Pafford, and John Pafford.

Instead of the dead girl route, he went the "live boy" route.

This really doesn't have much to do with the current owners, other than the fact that the company will probably be held liable in some shape or form in a civil lawsuit. I'm sure the families of those affected would be way more beneficial to seek damages from a multimillion dollar company that the freak pervert owns as opposed to his 24 dollars in his bank account. Maybe they should go back to Hope, AR and regroup.

The proposal submitted by the company said he was still one of the owners. If he is no longer with the company it must be real recent.

Well then there you have it. The City of Brandon has an ambulance service serving the citizens of their community that has pervert as owner and has been arrested on felony charges. Should make for some interesting excuses as they try to compete for the entire metropolitan ambulance business. Heres your sign........if you contract for public services with a felon, you night be a redneck!

@10:46 - Your comment is pretty ridiculous. The man is not a felon. The man is accused of a felony. You might be a redneck if you convict a man before he has had a trial.

Sounds like the service would have been better located in Madison county, give the recent string of events there.

@10:46 nice troll job, but jealosy and ignorance truly is bliss.

Do you think the City of Brandon knew about this before they hired? Im sure other citys look into the future and see situations that might happen in other states.

The county seat of Hempstead County, Arkansas -- Hope. Seems another former resident of Hope had some issues with younger members of the community.

I called for emergency services in Brandon and it took over an hour to get to my house. My neighbor had the same thing happen with Pafford. So scary and now this! Oh, my.

On a related note, Blue Cross which covers thousands of public employees will not pay going rate to AMR Ambulance. As if somebody has a choice as to meat wagon. If you get loaded into an AMR vehicle, and you're one of thousands of State Employees, their dependents and retirees, look to pay almost double.

@7:48 that is the most ignorant thing I have ever read. Pay double if you have Blue Cross and are transported by AMR? lol yeah ok.

Par for the course with Brandon's
New administration!

8:33. Simmer down and try to pay attention. If you have blue cross state plan and are transported by AMR you will wind up paying through the nose. AMR is NOT IN NETWORK. Blue Cross state plan will NOT cover the haul as if they were. AMR will NOT reduce the price to network. It's a Mexican standoff, both blaming the other. Been through it four times in six years.

You have no choice as to transport. Depends on your county contract. If you get hauled by an out-of-network ambulance service, you pay out-of-network price. You can't negotiate and you can't decline the ride and choose another. Your ass is stuck, as it were. In this case, approximately 78% more than if they were network.

What in the world does AmR and BCBS have to do with the owner of Brandon's ambulance service fondling little kids. Why not just start a comment on deep sea fishing

Try real hard to connect dots, 10:15. I betchu can do it if you concentrate. Alleged felon, Ambulance service contract in Rankin on the table, who is or is not a current owner, another one operating in other counties contiguous, insurance plans which may or may not include one or both of them, alleged corruption in-network procedures, costs of service by this industry screwing metro area residents.

Do you need some colored pencils?

All this might tie together for ya, or it might not. Regardless, ancillary rabbit trails are the norm here. Watch.

My name is Jayson Evans I can tell you without being a coward like some posting here. This company and family has helped a lot of people and I am not talking about with an ambulance. They gave to families who has had nothing. Employeed people they did jot have jobs for because these people were going hungry. The have bought cars. Paid light bills for people. When they had no money.
Yea yea I'm getting too it.
I lived gay lifestyle not once did Mr. Pafford ever do anything that made me uncomfortable.
I managed one of his services and when he made me manager that was one thing he stressed more than any thing. There was a zero tolerance policy on sexual harassment.
These are families that are looking for quick settlements. In Arkansas and Mississippi people let their kids run about on their own. He helped several kids when their families would leave them to defend themselves.
Now they want more money.
Two 16 yr olds befriend a 26 year old. He bought them a used three wheeler. When he refused to by a sea do they ran to police and tried to charge him. Later they admitted to making it up. But they ruined his life for a while. State republican don't like Pafford they been trying to get him into trouble for long time.

jason evans, you are exactly right. He helped many, many people::married couples, girls, boy. He provided ambulance service for cities and towns that couldn't afford to pay subsidy. Really good man and family. I worked 16 years and my husband 25 years.Somebody is trying to ruin him and his company.

Wow... look I am a pafford. He's a sick person but, let's not judge all paffords off one k ... I'm just as disgusted as you believe me

But also for the record. Carol Pafford is a Godly woman and Ben and Jamie are NOT a part of this. This is James Pafford's issue and everyone around him is going to suffer. It isn't fair to them. They are good, good people. Ben and Jamie and their kids do not deserve to be trashed.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
