Here it is

Ethan Van Sice

Say a prayer for Ms. Ward, Mr. Sice, and their families. Only reason I'm posting this is because JPD has been so secretive as usual.

Once again, first!

Any idea why they've been so secretive about his name?

Andrew?

Was looking at something else while typing. corrected.

It's not being secretive if he hasn't been charged with a crime.

Unfortunately sounds like a trust fund kid. Don't know his circumstances. He obviously appears to know better?

Incorrect age on MySpace. Says 21. http://www.myspace.com/mmmbiscuits

Not exactly a "trust fund kid". His dad worked for JPS and died a couple of years ago.

Kingfish said...

We don't know anything about him and there are many facts we don't know. Just everyone stay classy and sit tight.

Trust established as a part of life insurance policy?

He went to Madison Central. I think he graduated in May. Not sure where he was going this fall. His mom is a CFNP at St. D. My prayers are for everyone involved but especially with Mrs. Bobbie and Dr. Frazier as he has helped heal so many in Jackson for decades.

JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Jackson Police began reconstructing a fatal wreck Tuesday that killed a Madison Ridgeland Academy teacher.

The accident happened August 17 on River Thames Road in Jackson.

Ethan Van Cise, 19, was driving a silver Toyota Tundra when police say he crossed the center line on River Thames Road, crashing head-on into a car driven by Leigh Anne Ward.

Both vehicles landed on their side in a homeowner's front yard.

Witnesses say Van Cise was driving much faster than the posted speed limit of 25 miles per hour.

Emergency crews had to use the "Jaws of Life" to pull Ward, 35, from her car. She was later pronounced dead at University Medical Center.

Ward taught computer classes to elementary students at Madison Ridgeland Academy for 12 years.

No charges have been filed in the case.

JACKSON, Miss. -- Jackson police released the name of the driver of the pickup truck involved in a crash that killed an MRA teacher.

Police interviewed 19-year-old Ethan Vancise Friday. He has not been charged. Leigh Anne Ward, 35, died in the crash.

Investigators said Vancise has not been charged because they have to reconstruct the wreck to determine what exactly happened.

Police have to look at pictures now since the crash scene has been cleaned up.

Martha Smith said she cleaned her yard Thursday after Tuesday's crash.

"Friday morning, two police officers came and told me they were rather displeased that I had done that," said Smith.

In fact, JPD admitted it still has not done a crash scene reconstruction for a wreck that happened almost one week ago.

JPD Spokewoman Colendula Green told said the police have a report "normally within a day of the accident." But this case requires more "in depth" work because of the fatality.

Smith said no one told her to leave her yard as it was a week ago.

She said police still haven't picked up the CD of pictures she took of the crash and gave to 16 WAPT right after it happened.

Witnesses claim Vancise was text messaging just before the crash happened Tuesday.

Smith said she doesn't know.

"I hope they can really find out what really happened -- the truth of the matter of what really happened on River Tim's Road that day, that afternoon. There was something horrible going on and we don't know what it is," said Smith.

Assistant Police Chief Lee Vance said Monday if police work needed to be done at the scene of the crash, it should have been done before it was released and police tape removed.

Vance says he'll look into this Tuesday.

Vancise lives with his grandmother. She told 16 WAPT over the phone Monday that he is recovering and "he's not interested in doing an interview."

JPD, not being able to the most basic of police work.. again and again and again..

Just another one of the many cracked bricks of a crumbling Jackson.

Anonymous said...

If JPD is not capable of doing an accident reconstruction then they should have gotten the Mississippi Department of Public Safety who are swift on arriving and completing the job. It is stupidity on the part of JPD not to have done it "timely" such as right after the accident or the next morning at latest. It seems like JPD needs QUALIFIED accident reconstruction personnel, they used to have them but they retired and got the hell outta dodge so their unblemished records would not be tarnished, who could blame them. Between the Mayor who doesn't know how to check on grants to a Police Chief who doesn't have a clue, the City of Jackson is in a mess. Frank Melton might have not been the ideal Mayor but at least you were kept informed.

Anonymous said...

Let me get this straight. According to JPD spokeswoman Colendula Green, the accident needed more "in depth" work because of the fatality, so the JPD did what? They did absolutely nothing @ all until TODAY. An entire week after the wreck occurred. And the homeowner cleaned up the wreckage in her yard last Thurs.

"JPD Spokewoman Colendula Green told said the police have a report "normally within a day of the accident." But this case requires more "in depth" work because of the fatality."

Anonymous said...

If only we could get that new arena built then suddenly all of Jackson's problems - like an inept police department - would suddenly go away.

JPD ... another priority of something to fix in Jackson that isn't a priority at all.

Anonymous said...

What a bunch of dumbmasses! They couldn't recontruct the accident until a week later?

Good grief! Another flawed major investigation. Really unbelievabe, but then, not really.

It took a citizen with a metal detector to find the missing police officer's gun recently.
I suppose that approach was too complicated for our PD to undertake.

I guess it is what we should expect from those in charge.

BTW, 12:11, you're correct, Frank Melton wasn't ideal, not even close to it.
Somehow he didn't feel the law applied to him. Does the new police chief even know the law and how to apply it?

Anonymous said...

I'm sure Kaze has a perfect explanation for all of this and why everyone in Jackson should be happy that our law enforcement is so screwed up.

Anonymous said...

The current Mayor was incompetent when he worked for the State Tax Commission, he was incompetent when he was Mayor before, the third time should have been the charm but instead he makes the word stupidity look like brilliance. He should resign and get someone who knows how to get things done and take the incompetent Police Chief with him. And they wonder why Jackson is diminishing? There were plenty of good officers that were passed over for Chief so he could get one of his "friends" in the position.

Anonymous said...

Witnesses claim Vancise was text messaging just before the crash happened Tuesday.

Now, I wonder how in the hell any witness would know this. especially since the police cant communicate to an old woman not to clean up her yard.

Just like spokeswoman Green said... 'this case requires more "in depth" work because of the fatality.'

12:43 has accurately identified to problem. Ben Franklin cautioned that, in a democracy, the people get the government they deserve.

Anonymous said...

12:48, neighbors on that street heard/saw the accident and went to try and help the drivers. SUPPOSEDLY, when Mr. Vancise got out of his truck he asked "What happened, I was checking my phone ...."

That's where the reports are coming from. No way to tell if any of the media outlets have confirmed that story, but it's what they're saying in the neighborhood.

You know it is a shame that we lose the elephants because the zoo cannot afford to keep them but we keep the jackasses in office and we sure can't afford to keep them! I am anxiously awaiting bumper stickers that say "Stokes is a Joke".

Anonymous said...

3:43 You're exactly right. Forget moving the harmless Jackson Zoo elephants. Would be far more beneficial for Jackson to relocate worthless Mayor Harvey and his sidekick Kenneth "Kiss My Ass!" Stokes to the Nashville Zoo.

Anonymous said...

The Nashville Zoo wouldn't accept Stokes. They have standards.

updated WLBT

The wreck happened around 4:08 PM on Tuesday, August 17.

According to police, Ethan Van Sice, 19, was driving a silver Toyota Tundra when he crossed the center line on River Thames Road, crashing into a white Toyota Camry driven by Leigh Anne Ward, 35, who died at UMC.

Both vehicles landed on their side in the front yard of a home at 5350 River Thames Road.

The homeowner, Martha Smith, said Van Sice had been driving erratically for several blocks before crashing into Ward. Smith said the teen ripped down a stop sign several blocks away, drove through a woman's front lawn, and nearly hit a jogger before the wreck.

In our strong mayor form of city government blaming Stokes for anything misses the point by a country mile.

Without a leader in the Mayor's office focused, day in and day out, on meeting and exceeding expectations when it comes to the very basics of governing and running Jackson, this city is fucked beyond belief before anyone even gets out of bed in the morning.

Jackson is systemically dysfunctional. The MS Legislature has put in place laws that allow the State to take over failing school districts. It is way past due for the passage of similar laws that allow the State to take over failing municipalities.

Anonymous said...

But Stokes is such a big inviting target. Did I mention big?

Jackson: The Little Detroit of the South said...

August 24, 2010 4:02 PM: "Jackson is systemically dysfunctional."

"JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - The Good Samaritan Center in the inner city of Jackson, has been burglarized four times in the past month. Three of the break ins have been in the past week."

August 24, 2010 4:02 PM: " ... this city is fucked beyond belief before anyone even gets out of bed in the morning."

I still cannot believe that something as important as the water/sewer system in the City of Jackson could have fallen through the cracks by the Mayor who professes that he knew nothing about how that was voted on. What turnip did he crawl out from under. Duh? I think Haley said it very plain as did the others on that committee. If something was that important why wasn't the Mayor handling it? Kenneth Stokes could have done a better job than the Mayor did.

The young man driving the car is innocent until proven guilty. He did go to Madison County Schools. It is a very tragic accident. Can you imagine what his family is going through after losing several of their loved ones recently? If he was texting, then he is guilty, it is only his word agaist the people that he told. If they check his cell phone records, they can find what his cell phone was doing and the time doing it. Unless the accident reconstructionists don't have a clue about that either. I have always been under the assumption that when the crime scene tape was removed that the scene is open. I don't blame the woman for wanting to clean up her yard, the Jackson PD should have left the tape up and the scene secure, another one of their bumbling errors, go back to the Irby case................

This rendition is very disturbing.

Unless the accident reconstructionists don't have a clue about that either.

An all too real probability, er, possibility.

This is stupid. He didn't take out any stop sign or rip through anyones yard. How could one lady have saeen him driving for blocks?!

Ethan is a great person who was just speeding. Have you ever sped? He didn't set out to hurt anyone. He is one of the nicest most caring people I know, and it was an accident.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
