New face of the GOP?

Meet Mark Rubio. Former Speaker of the House in Florida who is giving nightmares to the Charlie Crist camp as well as a few Republican Senators. Enjoy the speech. He might be the future of the party instead of Jindal or Palin.

Hopefully at least than Palin.

Wow. Just Wow. I've been waiting too long for a Republican leader to articulate things the way this guy can.

Thanks for posting KF.

Unbelievable! It's about time! Thanks for going overtime and posting this speech! Americans, it's time to stand up! Why are the leaders asking us to decide? Why aren't we telling the leaders what we want?

Well done KF.

Jindal Palin 2012!!!

Bring us the nation we deserve....ugh.

The fact the Republican (ruined by GW) party put up Jindal or Palin strikes deep in the heart of the failed attempt to hijack the party and harkens back to the days of the Grand Ole Right Wing Fundamental Religious Fanatic take-it-or leave it mentality. I'll continue to be skeptical of all of you.

I do not have posting privileges, but I believe the message here and the subsequent passages are worth a listen.

"I'll continue to be skeptical of all of you". Like we give a shit.

Please go join the other 3 PEOPLE who have commented on the JFP since 1:04 yesterday afternoon. Such a vibrant ideology. Spew your "suspicions" there.

You probably thing the "community organizer lite" is a great president too, don't you?

Who cares? You are a nobody.

Keep in mind the Republican Senatorial whatever Committee is opposing this guy and jumped in bed with the Obama-loving Crist from the get-go.

I take it from 7:07 and 8:33 you are in church praying for the Republican Party. You're ruing this country.

Anonymous said...

Ruining. Sorry.

Your infallible belief in the fanatical principles (Right-wing Religious Right [RRR]) of people like Jindal and Palin (do you actually believe they are the future of the party?) only strengthens my argument made above. I will sit in the MIDDLE and watch the party continue to self-destruct while leaders like Rubio and Ron Paul continue to attract folks like me and 50+% of INDEPENDENTS. Go ahead and hold on to your failed dogma. And in response to your wonderful "who gives a shit" attitude, I don't give a shit about you, your defense of the RRR b/c frankly you are irrelevant inside the political discourse of today. You had your chance and it did not work, be prepared to be marginalized to a failed experiment history. If you feel otherwise, contribute. I'm sure we can have a rich dialogue. Wait, what is that I hear, the flushing of the RRR; its circling, faster, faster, oops there it goes.

I don't give a shit about you ...

Obviously you do. You.are.still.here.

The speech was mostly fluff, although I agree with what he said. However, I'm more interested in the how than the why at this point. Taxes lowered, deficit cut...yes I want those things. But at what expense? That's what I wanted to hear from him. I'm looking for a Ron Pual in a Palin package. Someone who knows what he's talking about but is media savvy and able to communicate that vision. Judging by this speech, Rubio didn't really touch on the 'how'. Although he does present well and tells a good story. Perhaps in time he can grow to be the great hope.

Um, free speech, folks? I feel free speech is important, even if someone disagress with me/you/them/us. We all have the right to disagree without tossing terms about like "who gives a shit what you think". That's abusive and disrespectful and cuts off any chance of discussion or persuasion to change someone's point of view. No sense trying to carry on a dialogue with someone who doesn't give a shit. I can see why the person feels skeptical.

Jindal really disappointed me last year in the fight against Obamacare. He was probably the best-qualified Republican to lead the fight and he was pretty much awol. He wrote a column that appeared in the Washington Post that was disjointed and tepid in its arguments. Giving a bad speech doesn't really bother me because that has nothing to do with making decisions and forming policy but his complete absence was troubling. While we can debate whether the proposed statutory language would've created death panels, the fact remains that Palin took a very public stand while Jindal was sitting on the sidelines. He's been a decent governor and compared to Blanco, Edwards, Roemer, and even Foster that is an improvement but nothing really spectacular.

And Mr. 9:20 am, if you look at the tossing of stones you criticize, look to your first comments at 7:07 last night. Good day to you sir.

Jindal came off as a joke as the Republican response...I agree with you he has done nothing after being handed a national stage by both the party AND the media. They were doing personal stories about his background that were favorable to his achievements. I like the sound of Rubio, my concern is that corporations will find a way to stifle a true citizens party. The principles of Corpratocracy and the extremely conservative Libertarian principles will not mesh. Then there is the party, the Republican party is so fractionalized that I worry that the Rubio's and Paul's of the world really do not want to be a part of the bickering that went on during the GW years and the now late attempt to re-energize through Palin. It is a difficult position for the Republican Party to be in when the very people you want in your fold are the ones criticizing its missteps.

February 21, 2010 9:20 AM Dude, I've been here longer than you.

Unless you are Kingfish himself posting anonymously I 100% doubt it. I'm that certain.

These anonymous insults are funny; watching people trying to insult someone by criticizing a previous anonymous post, then finding out their current anonymous target didn't post the other anonymous post. It's all like a hall of mirrors, or that scene in Batman Begins when Bruce Wayne fights a group of identical-appearing ninjas. This has been entertaining but I need to do some productive stuff tonight. Enjoy your insults, boys, and remember the words of LBJ: "Never get into a pissing contest with a skunk" ;-)

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
