Criminals Rarely Change Their Spots, Including Hotshot Quarterbacks

(Warning: strong language)

Surprise, surprise. Jared Foster was indicted recently:
"A former Madison Central quarterback who lost a chance to play for Ole Miss amid accusations that he sold steroids has been indicted in Madison County.
Jared Foster, 19, entered a not guilty plea and waived arraignment in Madison County Circuit Court last week. He was arrested in Oxford in January after an investigation by the Madison County Sheriff’s Department.According to court documents, Foster is accused of selling nandrolone decanoate, commonly known as anabolic steroids, a to an informant on Oct. 5.Foster is out on $5,000 bond, and he is scheduled to go to trial in September
..." http://www.clarionledger.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=200880512017

Foster's arrest and indictment came after he was arrested more than a year ago for....steroids! However, he made an deal where he promised to stay out of trouble and then agreed to rat out anyone else who was involved in the steroid scandal.

This case is a perfect example of why I don't favor going easy on someone just because its his first offense as Mr. Foster did not learn anything from his first brush with the law. He apparently learned nothing from his second brush either when he got in a fight and charges were filed against him although they were later dropped. I've known some Madison Central football players and trust me, more than a few (and its common at other schools, regardless of race or location, See Mychel Bell of the Jena 6) think they can get away with anything..

Want to know where a George Bell gets started? A Barry Goff? This is where it begins. Show some remorse, promise to cooperate, snitch on your friends, then down the road when you get in trouble again, say you really learned this time and won't do it again. When will we realize that going easy on these kids in today's culture merely makes them think they got one over on the rest of us? I gurantee you this kid doesn't think he did anything wrong and is only sorry he got caught.

There are several questions regarding Madison County's handling of this case:
1. Foster promised to cooperate with the investigation when he was arrested the first time. Was anyone else ever arrested or prosecuted or..... did the investigation wither away?
2. Why is Tommy Savants, a Ridgeland part-time prosecutor, allowed to represent Mr. Foster in this case before Madison County? I called the Madison County's D.A.'s office today and was told he was still a part-time prosecutor for Ridgeland. Anyone see a problem here?

He was a punk when he was first arrested and couldn't wait to snitch on his buddies.

You are really over the line here. How do you know what his parents have or have not done? Jared is an adult and makes his own decisions now. Do you know how many times his mother has cried and broken down because of all this?

Your last line is just extremely low class. Period.

If you had chidren of your own, you would be writing a different story here.

I agree with Anonymous. You have a really unfortunate habit of jumping on one side of an issue and slinging accusations at potentially innocent people when you know ABSOLUTELY NOTHING of the facts, man. I’ve agree with you on a lot of issues, but you cheapen your value by continuously ranting without knowing or attempting to find out the other side before you slam people. I’m sure Jared’s family is horrified, just like Robbie Bell must be suffering over what her son did. Anybody who knows her has said over and over she would have thrown herself in between George and Heather if she had been there in time. The truth of that situation is that none of us know what happened to her after she got home, because so far all that we’ve heard are crazy accusations that make no sense. And that’s another one. You throw George out here like a habitual brawler or trouble maker. He has no police record and wasn’t a fighter. I know a few of his old friends and personally know his longtime ex-girl friend. Same story from all of them. The guy was never in trouble, was always nice, always soft-spoken and polite. Steroids are bad ass drugs and are corrupting young people in our area. What he did to Heather was a horrible, tragic thing that would never have happened without the drugs having taken over his life. Why don’t you use your space to get more pressure on law enforcement to crack down on the suppliers. Who got Jared started? Who was supplying George? Maybe it was Frank Melton.

Funny how I got a completely different story from another ex g/f of George's. And I stand by everything I've said or written about him. Everything I've stated about him has been backed up by good solid info and sources. I don't always name them so as to protect them but they are solid and credible.

as for getting the cops to crack down on steroids, good luck. I'll let you guys figure out why that is a hopeless cause.

Fish, what has happened to you lately? All you do is spew venom lately.

Kingfish said...

Just happened to be what I saw on the news this week. I see the roidheads at the gym all the time. They get busted, and nothing ever happens to them. Not trying to spew more than the normal amount of venom, just the way some of the news has run lately and I'm getting fed up with alot of things around here. From a Mayor that is a total idiot to a local media that is either incompetent in terms of coverage or smears people to seeing people like Kim Wade that are standing up for the regular guy against Entergy pay a heavy price for it while the smily faced Republicans in the governor's mansion can't wait to hop in bed with Entery so they can screw us to seeing Jim Hood tank the Robbie Bell indictment so he could help his Ed Peters crowd buddies, just the way its been running lately. Will see what I can do about the jackassery. ;-)

The 24-7-365 venom blog is over at the JFP.

What motivated this post?

One of my favorite people is G. Gordon Liddy.

Patricia, not to change the subject but how can you say that Robbie Bell would have "thrown herself between George and Heather" when she wouldn't even pick up the telephone and call for help? Give me a break.

Kingfish said...

Robbie was alone for over an hour when George left to kidnap the roomate. Not once did Robbie call the cops. Of course, she did call his uncle, lawyer and former Judge, James Bell to the house. The same James Bell who was the lawyer for the ex wife of james jennings and the original reason why Mr. Jennings was thrown in jail without charge or bond.

Anonymous and Patricia were right to call out Kingfish on blaming Jared’s parents or any parents, for that matter, for things that grown kids do. When you don’t know the facts and family dynamics, you can’t assume they’re enablers to great extent. Jared’s and George’s families might not have known everything they were doing. I’m thinking Jared’s folks are sick about his situation and totally heartbroken.

If you've noticed, I've removed the remarks.

I assumed a bit because I have seen too many parents not just look the other way but do everything possible to bail their kids out. My fault for doing so and I take full responsibity.

Hello??? Am I missing something? Where does it make mention anywhere of Jared Foster's parents and the role they did or did not play? I've read this thing ten times now and find no reference to them at all. The comment made by Kingfish stating "When will we realize that going easy on these kids in today's culture merely makes them think they got one over on the rest of us" is just that....a cultural reference....not an indictment of his parents.

Anonymous said...

Well that explains why I couldn't find it.

Kingfish said...

RememberingHeather,
I went a little bit too far last night and made some remarks about the parents. I was called out for it, they were right, and I took them down.

Now having said that, Terry is dead wrong. Just because a kid is 18 doesn't mean he is too old for mommy and daddy to get him off the hook or use their connections to help him. Just look at the George Bell case and the initial beating, it smacks of string pulling. Just because you are of age doesn't mean parents won't try to bail out their kid regardless of the crime.

Anonymous said...

We've all been witness to how "string-pulling" can, in an instant, wash the blood from blood stained hands. As a parent, I'm very sympathetic with all actions taken to protect our children...right or wrong... because it's the purest form of instinct that exists. But when corrective actions can and should be taken and aren't, it becomes an even bigger and very different issue. There's a fine line between protecting your child and enabling them. Kingfish, you are right to accept responsiblity for your comments and remove them if they were in fact out of line. You are also right to remind us however of the dire consequences of not practicing "tough love" when necessary.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
